Imperial Coffee Kolsch Style Ale | 8.6% ABV | Columbian Tolima Coffee Beans
Ah, it’s an old-fashioned prairie drink-off. Wheat stacked Imperial Kolsch-style ale saturated with the jammy stone fruit flavors of Idaho 7 hops and subtle pear and lemon esters of Kolschbier yeast. A month of cold conditioning further defined the soft & smooth bakery-esque German pilsner and American wheat malts. And then, the pièce de résistance, medium roast whole Columbian Tolima coffee beans courtesy of Homestead Roasters. The beans ring through the base beer beautifully, remaining cohesively velvety and not detracting from the malt-centric approach. All rolling softly into the big doughy bready goodness with rich and creamy coffee roast. Smells like a cup of joe w/ cream and sugar (thanks Flo), toffee, cold brew and chocolate. Tastes like chocolate covered espresso candy, subtle peaks of plum & hazelnut, honey and candy sugar sticks. Marvin the clone.
